Volunteer

Volunteers are crucial to the delivery of our services for young refugees. After18 has a range of volunteering opportunities for suitably skilled or experienced people to support our activities. Could you spare a few hours a week to share your skills with After18 and enrich the life of a young person?
Our current volunteering opportunities include:
- Young women’s group support
- English tutors – beginner to GCSE
- Maths tutors
- ICT tutor/support
- Science tutors
Safeguarding
After18 acknowledges the duty of care to safeguard, protect and promote the welfare of children and young people and is committed to ensuring safeguarding practice reflects statutory responsibilities, government guidance and complies with best practice and Department for Education requirements. We do so through the application of our safeguarding policy, the purpose of which is:
- to protect children and young people who receive After18’s services from harm.
- to provide staff and volunteers with the overarching principles that guide our approach to child protection.
Our safeguarding policy applies to anyone working on behalf of After18, including senior managers and the Board of Trustees, paid staff and volunteers, as well as in our work with partner organisations, who all have a responsibility to protect children from abuse.
As part of our safeguarding procedures, all staff and volunteers are required to undertake an enhanced criminal record check before joining us.
