After18 works with local artists and arts organisations to provide a broad range of experiences for young refugees.
Our programme aims to provide young people with a safe space to express themselves and have their views heard. Young people tell us that having a regular opportunity to participate in arts groups distracts them from their worries and bad experiences and helps to keep them busy.
We offer regular opportunities to display the work in public, which brings the young people’s stories to a wider audience. We encourage the young people to think of themselves as artists. Exhibiting their work is a validating experience for them and helps build confidence.
Through our partnership with Charnwood Arts we have enabled young people to achieve Arts Award Bronze and Silver.
