Arts programme

Two male service users work on a drawing of a flag on a large work of art taped to the wall during the weekly After18 art and photography club

After18 works with local artists and arts organisations to provide a broad range of experiences for young refugees.

Our weekly art and photography club provides young people with a safe space to express themselves and have their views heard. Young people tell us that having a regular opportunity to participate in arts groups distracts them from their worries and bad experiences and helps to keep them busy.

We offer regular opportunities to display the work in public, which brings the young people’s stories to a wider audience. We encourage the young people to think of themselves as artists. Exhibiting their work is a validating experience for them and helps build confidence.

We also offer young people the opportunity to take the Arts Award at various levels.
