After18 is a registered charity providing services in Leicester for unaccompanied children and young refugees and asylum-seekers. Our team of staff and volunteers works with over 200 young people each year, providing educational and wellbeing support through a range of activities including:
- Homework support/English classes
- Education orientation for new arrivals
- Young women’s support group
- Football
- Art and photography club
- Individual casework support to adjust to life in the UK
About the role
Job title: Operations Manager
Hours: 28 hours per week (hours can be flexibly worked as agreed)
Salary: £29,120 pro rata (£36,400 FTE)
Contract: 18 months (in the first instance) – permanent position subject to funding*
Location: Remote**
Annual Leave: 28 days including Bank Holidays (pro rata for part-time positions)

We’re looking for an Operations Manager to join our passionate and experienced team. The Operations Manager plays a key role in overseeing all aspects of After18’s operations, and includes leading and working alongside senior management in the following areas:
- Financial Management
- Service Management and Development
- Human Resources
- Governance and compliance
- Networking & Partnership Development

*The Operations Manager is a key role at After18 and the position is long-term. We are able to offer an initial 18 month contract in the first instance and will extend once we have secured longer-term funding for the position.
**This position can be worked remotely but occasional travel to the office in Leicester is expected throughout the year (transport costs covered).
About you
You’re a values-led, professional and motivated individual capable of supporting us to deliver our objectives and thrive as an organisation. You will demonstrate a strong commitment to improving the lives of young refugees. You are confident and competent, able to manage and improve our ways of working, foster a positive and reflective working environment and work closely with other senior management roles and Board of Trustees. You will have several years of relevant operational experience, particularly in finance and applying for grants, and an understanding of working with a values-driven team of people in the charity sector.
