Journeys Festival, Leicester (August 2014)

24-25th August, Town Hall Square, Leicester

Respect ceramic Who Am I exhibition After18

A selection of sculptures from the Who Am I? exhibition will be on display in Leicester’s Town Hall Square during the Journeys Festival.

Returning for its second year, the Journeys Festival offers a mix of extraordinary and inspiring live music, performance, visual art, moving image, discussion and workshops over two days in August.

All of the work presented is by refugee and asylum-seeker artists or directly reflects the refugee experience. For more information about the line-up of arts, culture and music in this year’s event, go to the Journeys Festival website.

The Who Am I? exhibition includes clay sculptures created over a series of sessions during the summer of 2013 by young Afghans who are living in Leicester. The activities were run as a partnership between local artist Beate Dehnen and After18.

More background about the process of creating the artwork can be found on our blog post, Snakes and Sculptures.
